The History of Reliable Glass
National Auto Glass Company History
Founded in California in 1912, the National Auto Glass Company quickly established itself as a leader in the auto glass industry. In 1960, the original founder retired to Tucson and played a pivotal role in founding the Tucson branch of National Auto Glass. This location was not part of the subsequent franchise expansion, as it was established prior to the franchising efforts.
National Auto Glass in Tucson
Throughout the years, several National Glass locations sprang up in Tucson and Green Valley. However, the original National Auto Glass building near the intersection of Grant and Stone was eventually demolished to make way for the Grant Road widening project.
Transition to Star Glass
In 2017, following the passing of John Sertich—one of the last remaining original founders—Star Glass acquired the business. Star Glass, founded in Tucson in 1998, operated two Tucson locations and one in Phoenix. In 2021, Reliable Auto Glass, a Phoenix-based company, purchased Star Glass Tucson.
Reliable Auto Glass and Its Evolution
Reliable Auto Glass was established by Greg Tornga around 2002. The company’s automotive division was sold to Safelite in 2022. The remaining Residential and Commercial Glass division is now operated by longtime employees and partners as Reliable Glass Arizona, LLC. This new entity continues to serve the Phoenix and Tucson areas with renowned customer service and attention to detail.
