If I Have A Cracked Window, Is It Illegal To Drive With It In Phoenix?

In Phoenix and the rest of Arizona, it is not illegal, but not recommended. Here are some reasons why having a cracked windshield can be considered dangerous and cause you to get a ticket….

  • Structural Weakness -The windshield contributes to the structural integrity of the vehicle, helping to hold it together during an accident. When the glass is in one piece, it helps support the impact resistance of the vehicle. An un-repaired crack may weaken the glass, causing it to break easier.
  • Visual Impairment – A crack can cause visual impairment and distraction to the driver, increasing the risk of an accident. A crack may be considered a visual impairment if it exceeds 1.5 inches in diameter and has a cross section from another crack.
  • Size Of The Crack -If the crack is within 6 inches from the edge of the window where the window meets the car and/or the glass has a cross section crack in it, the windshield must be replaced.

About The Dodge Nitro

The Dodge Nitro is a compact SUV that was produced by Dodge from the 2007 to the 2012 model year. The Nitro shared its platform with the second generation Jeep Liberty. It was assembled at the Toledo North Assembly Plant in Toledo, Ohio. The Jeep facility is part of an automobile complex which includes the Toledo South Assembly Plant, home to the Jeep Wrangler since the 1940’s.

The Omni and the Horizon ended production in 1990, and were replaced by the Dodge Shadow/Plymouth Sundance, which were both introduced for 1987. It outlived the European version by three years; Peugeot had bought Chrysler’s European division in 1978 and re-badged the Horizon as Talbots, with production lasting until 1987.
